Lucky Friday Mine shut down

Coeur d Alene based Hecla Mining announced today that the Mine Safety and Health Administration has order the closure of the silver shaft at their Lucky Friday Mine in Mullan,Id. for the removal of built up material within the shaft which will take till early 2013 when production can once again begin.The closure is major hit to small town of Mullan where many residents work at the Lucky Friday as well as Hecla Mining who's stock price took a major hit because Hecla has dropped production estimates for 2012 to just 7 million ounces of silver down from 9.2 million.Hecla's Lucky Friday has been in the news a lot lately after a fatal accident earlyer in the year and a injury accident just recently.
