The Milk Bottle has re-opened !

After several months of massive remodeling Spokane's landmark Mary Lou's Milk Bottle Restaurant officially re-opened to the public this Mother's Day Weekend . The Milk Bottle which is located at 802 W. Garland Ave in the middle of The Garland District in Spokane . The Milk Bottle has become a landmark for the community due in part to it's creative Milk Bottle design and it's age as the building has been a part of the Garland District for decades. The Milk Bottle was also a filming location in the Johnny Deep film Benny & Joon with the exterior of the building being used frequently in the movie.

The closure and complete rebuild was required after a large fire burned The Milk Bottle and the neighboring restaurant , Ferguson's Cafe in Sept of 2011. The new Milk Bottle touts basically the same look as it did before the fire with the small exceptions of higher ceilings and decorative lighting made out of old milk bottles. The menu for The Milk Bottle is also the same, serving up classic diner food and milk shakes.

The other Spokane landmark business hit hard by the fire was Ferguson's Cafe directly next door to The Milk Bottle. That small diner sustained more damage in the fire but is also re-built,more on that in a later post.
