Changes coming to the Garland Theater

Only a couple of weeks ago lawmakers OK'd a plan to allow some Washington State movie theaters to serve alcohol on site in their establishments. And one local independent theater is jumping at the opportunity to serve. That theater is The Garland Theater and alcohol isn't the only thing that's coming to anchor of Spokane's Garland District.

The Garland Theater, located at the corner of N. Monroe St. and W. Garland Ave. in Spokane will indeed begin serving beer and wine in the main theater soon, staff are currently working out the details on how and where to serve. Beer and wine only will be available with no spirits as The Garland has over 100 seats and the law allows for liquor sales in theaters with under 100 seats only.

In addition to beer and wine, The Garland is also planning a food menu. The theater is working with, Josh Martin , former chef of Casper Fry to build a unique menu that will consist of typical concession stand far done in a new and special way. The menu is by no means completed but will consist of gourmet hot dogs and sausages ( including a vegan option ) as well as light items to start.

And while food and drinks are an exciting addition on their own. The theater also recently completed a remodel of the concession stand area, added a new digital projector and will soon be adding new seats and a upgraded sound system. Currently all the new plans, including the food and drink service, will begin sometime in early October.
