Renovations coming for two historic buildings on the West side of Downtown Spokane

With all of the development happening and new business opening up on the eastern side of Downtown Spokane it's extra special when we hear of new projects on the western side of Downtown. And, while it's not the only project or new business in this section of the city, it is the newest and among the more exciting.

That project is the full renovation of the historic Norman Building at 1121 W. 1st Ave and the historic Jefferson Building at 115 S. Jefferson. These two buildings, while separate are both together just west of the Davenport Arts District at the corner of 1st and Jefferson. Viewers of KHQ News may recognize them for being near the middle of the shot for the news' tower cam which looks south from the KHQ studios.

The new renovation project will be headed up by Yellow Door Properties,LLC of Spokane. Wells & Co. who has done many historic renovation projects around Spokane will do the design work. There is no construction start date as of yet, but we expect it to start soon as the buildings are to be ready for occupancy around the Spring of next year.

The ground floors of both The Norman and The Jefferson building will be renovated into new commercial space. About 10,000 square feet of newly remodeled commercial space will be available, and the boxing business, Spokane Boxing has already leased a some storefront space there.

Upper floors of both buildings will be residential uses. The Jefferson Building will house 8 condos and the Norman Building will house 8 apartments.
