New restaurant, Indicana to bring a mix of Mexican and Indian cuisines to the South Perry District

A unique new restaurant that will blend two cuisines is now officially on its way to the South Perry District. Called Indicana the new restaurant has been being developed behind the scenes for almost a year now, but is now actively happening with leases signed and signage up on the restaurants future home at 1020 S. Perry St.

Indicana is a collaboration between Noreen Hiskey of Inland Curry and Chip Overstreet the former CEO of Spiceology. They indicated in a recent social media post that each dish will celebrate the cuisines of India and Mexico and every bite is meant to wow your taste buds. Some of the menu examples given are chipotle roasted sweet potato enchiladas with a creamy butter marsala sauce, tender pork vindaloo with tandoori-spiced cabbage on a warm naan taco topped with melted gooey cheese and many more. Indicana is definitely doing something Spokane has never seen before culinary-wise.

Dietary needs will also be considered at the new restaurant with gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options available. Additionally, a small full bar is planned to be part of the restaurant with craft cocktails representing the flavors of the two cuisines they are inspired by.

Presently the owners of Indicana are planning to open the new restaurant around late spring or early summer of this year. But, there is significant remodeling that will still need to be done to the building so exact opening times will be announced by them when the timing is more set. The space has been vacant for over 10 years and was last used as a small grocery called Hai's Market. Indicana plans to be able to seat 55 indoors and an additional 1200 square feet of patio space adjacent to Grant Park for outdoor dining during the warmer months.

Yost-Gallagher Construction will be the general contractor on the remodel of the new restaurant. With architecture done by Mercier Architecture. ASB Kitchens and DS Studio will also be involved in the project.
