Arc of Spokane to open thrift store in old CompUSA building Downtown

The Arc of Spokane is a non profit that has served the Spokane community for many years, doing good works with residents with developmental disabilities. The Arc of Spokane does this via several different programs, however running those programs isn't without cost.

Drive In Theatre proposed for Spokane

It's not even a sure thing this business will ever get built, but two local residents are purposing bringing back the Drive In movie theatre concept to Spokane.

Food Truck Rally in the works for upcoming First Friday

In early December the Downtown Spokane Partnership is planning a food truck rally during their monthly First Friday event. And while none of the participating food trucks are " new businesses " this new event is proof that, slowly but surely, the Spokane business scene is getting hipper and keeping up with trends from other parts of the nation.

Wollnick's General Store, a branch of Greencupboards.com, now open in Spokane

Earlier this year, Spokane based Greencupboards.com , formed a parent company called Etailz Inc. to operate the companies business divisions other then just the companies popular Green Cupboards e-commerce web site. And now, the newly formed Etailz Inc. has an all new off-line division with last week's opening of the companies first new brick and mortar retail store right here in Spokane.

Candy Works now open in Northtown Mall

After the recent closure of Northtown Mall's Sweet Factory chain candy store, the mall was left without a candy and sweets vendor. The Sweet Factory space was quickly filled with an addition of the now, newly remodeled Clare's store.But still the mall was without this category of business that had been a favorite for many shoppers. Geocaching specialty store opens in Spokane

While the weather at the time of my writing this may seem a bit too cold to get into any outdoor hobby. We, here in the Inland Northwest do have plenty of time each year too get out and about . And there is one newish hobby that is gathering quite the following, Geocaching. And fans of geocaching now have a new store, right here in Spokane , to help fulfill any of their needs. Or even novices to the hobby that are looking for something new to do.

Today just seems to full of bad news, earlier I reported on the upcoming closure of The Display House in Spokane Valley. That closure will happen at the end of the year, but the INBW newsroom has just learned of another local small business closure that has a closure date a lot sooner.

Coffee is huge, and while there is a debate over which is better local coffee stands or the big chains. There is one chain that has proven itself quite popular locally in Spokane and Coeur d' Alene both. And now it appears Spokane will be getting another Dutch Bros. location in the near future.

The space that was Berg's Shoes sure wasn't empty long. Signs went up this week in the Downtown Spokane storefront for a new restaurant being planned that is currently scheduled to open in about 4 to 5 months.

Hotel Ruby owner buys 2nd Downtown hotel, has big plans

Well known local developer Jerry Dicker has purchased another hotel in Downtown Spokane. Dicker, who owns and operates GVD Commercial Properties,Inc. is the owner of the Hotel Ruby which is also Downtown only blocks from this newly acquired hotel property.

 The new Winco Foods grocery store in Coeur d' Alene is now open! The store is laid out much like the stores already in Spokane. Only a bit smaller and with a more warehouse like look. Here is what all we know of the store....

It isn't everyday a small business survives from 1885 till today. But that's exactly the case for the historic Colbert Trading Company a.k.a. The Colbert Store in the heart of the Town of Colbert,Wa .
And after a brief hiatus , mainly for renovations , the store is back in business.

Avista to aquire Alaskan power company, serve portion of Alaska.

Spokane based electric and natural gas utility , Avista Corp. made the announcement yesterday that the company will be acquiring a Juneau, Alaska based power company and entering into the Alaskan utility market for the first time in Avista's history.

Chairs Public House opening soon / Wearable Assets now open by Gonzaga

Back in February we reported on this site of plans made by Chairs Coffee Shop to open a new location in the former Bulldog Tavern building nearby Gonzaga University. But now we are pleased to report that this new location , which will be called Chairs Public House , will be complete and open as early as next week.

Historic Downtown warehouse being renovated ( photos )

The large brick warehouse at 116 W. Pacific in Downtown Spokane has a very interesting history starting life as a cold storage warehouse undoubtedly for the trains on the railroad viaduct that sits directly behind the Pacific Ave. building. And while the building was used for a time a warehouse for the now closed Sylvan's Furniture store it has sat completely empty for sometime now. But all that is changing.

Parker VW opens, last major change at Parker

Parker is well known name for car buying in Coeur d' Alene and Post Falls, starting with Parker Toyota / Scion at the corner of US 95 and Kathleen in Coeur d' Alene. Also at that same site is the Parker Auto Credit Center who assists customers will credit issues but still need to get a car. And while the Parker complex on Kathleen is still going strong, in the same location as always. Other major changes have recently been completed to the rest of the Parker owned dealerships.
