Shawn O’Donnell’s American Grill & Irish Pub to open where Milford’s once was

An Irish Pub will soon bring life back to 719 N Monroe, better known as the former home of Milford’s Fish House. Milford’s closed a few months ago and the historic building has sat empty ever since.

But, a new owner has acquired the space and will open a location of Shawn O’Donnell’s American Grill & Irish Pub. This will be their fourth location as they also have restaurants open in Everett and two in Seattle. The new location will use the same menu as the other locations, with both Irish and American fare. There also will of course be liquor with an extensive whisky list, Irish beers, local microbrews and more.

The new Spokane O’Donnells doesn’t have a set opening date yet but should opening in “a couple months”.

Second Harvest planning new building to combat child hunger

Second Harvest is our area's largest food bank, benefiting all ages and walks of life. One of their main missions is childhood hunger. And, as it is explained on their website " Getting healthy food to children who need it most is a fundamental goal of Second Harvest".

Part of reaching this goal is their recently announced plans to expand their footprint to a new building. Second Harvest has acquired the 21,000 square foot facility at 402 N. Perry, which it will remodel and re-open as the Wolff Family Child Hunger Solution Center. The new building is just a short distance away from Second Harvest's existing 83,000 square foot distribution center on Front.

The new second building will add 13,000 square feet of additional warehouse space as well as a permanent home for a Bite2Go Volunteer Center. As well as flexible training space for nutrition education classes and space for some of their community partners.

Renovation work will begin soon with an official ground breaking next month. They also still have a bit to go toward their needed funding goal for the project. More info on this project and all that Second Harvest does in the Inland Northwest community, visit their website at-

Is there hope for a Chick-fil-a in Spokane?

Important- This not a definitive confirmation that Chick-fil-a is coming but it is a good sign!

Chick-fil-a has recently filled for a SEPA application with the state for a parcel of land near the Y in North Spokane. Perhaps the rumors of Chick-fil-a coming to the Gonzaga campus inspired something?

The application, which would be an early phase of development, shows a 4833 square foot store at the corner of N Newport Hwy & Hoerner, or 9304 N Newport Hwy. . In the plans the Chick-fil-a name is mentioned several times. Commenting on application is now open and closes on 6/21/19. In the notes it indicates construction could start as early as later this summer.

Will Chick-fil-a be coming to Spokane soon? It looks very good but we’ll be giving it a little more time to say for sure! If you’d like to view the SEPA documents on the project for yourself check-https://apps.ecology.wa.gov/separ/Main/SEPA/Record.aspx?SEPANumber=201903214

Stay tuned...

Take our survey and help shape the future of Inland Northwest Business Watch

Inland Northwest Business Watch is my passion. I know it's just a blog covering business & development news in a mid sized city, but I obsess over it, probably more then I should.

I want to help new businesses get the word out so that they can succeed. It's been a sort of a hobby of mine for most of my life, growing up in small town in Ohio I was the weird kid who would get excited over a new small store or even the hint of where the next big box store was going to open. I remember when I was a teenager and a factory was built near my house, I would take my dog over and just watch the construction workers work ( from a distance, not creepily of course ) . So it only makes sense that one day I would create this.

I am now going on 8 years of running this blog and it's time to start taking the next step so to speak. Similar sites like Boisedev.com in Boise are full time operations, Instagrammer and blogger Spokane Eats' owner has become successful enough to have interns working under her. Needless to say we're still the little guys on the block.

I'm not making any announcements, but do want to see where to go from here. I have lots and lots of ideas and have created a survey to see what people are thinking. Because at the end of the day I want this site to be what the readers want.

Please take this quick 10 question survey, and at the end of it, leave your name and email address because on 6/14/19 I'll draw a random name to win a $10 gift card to Indaba Coffee Roasters!

The survey will be up if you are reading this after 6/14/19 but that is the end of the give away.

Thanks!
