Alice in Wonderland inspired restaurant Ten/6 returning to Coeur d' Alene

Many may recognize the restaurant named Ten/6 for its amazing breakfast and lunch menu and unique Alice in Wonderland inspired theme. The locally owned and operated eatery was located in Midtown Coeur d' Alene until deciding to move out of their location in hopes of moving to a new home eventually. That was approximately two years ago, and Izzy's Comfort Kitchen now calls that space in Midtown home, with a following of their own loyal customers. But, now not far away Ten/6 is about to return as well.

Ten/6 has been announced as one of the tenants in the commercial space on the ground floor of the new "The Mill" building, rising now on Government Way at Mill Ave. in Coeur d' Alene. In fact, the new Ten/6 will only be about a mile +/- to the west of their original space in Midtown. The Mill will be a mixed-use building with ground floor commercial space and 43 apartments on the upper three floors.

The new space will be about 1000 Sq Feet larger than their former restaurant. We reached out to Ten/6 and we're told they will be "bringing back all the magic from the old space while attempting to elevate everything at the same time for our new home". They also tell me then are hoping to open in the new space by late spring or early summer of 2023.

Emerald Initiative and McKinstry to build new fabrication and manufacturing facility on the West Plains

Emerald Initiative recently broke ground on a new McKinstry Fabrication and manufacturing facility in Spokane. The new 68,000 Sq Ft. facility is on a 5 acre parcel close to Flint Rd, nearby Spokane International Airport and near the edge of the City of Airway Heights.

The state-of-the-art fabrication facility will serve all McKinstry locations nationwide and house an Overcast Innovations manufacturing facility. McKinstry is a national leader in designing, constructing, operating and maintaining high-preforming buildings and Overcast Innovations is a McKinstry-owned subsidiary that "liberates construction projects from productivity traps and systemic waste". Overcast primarily focuses on cloud based above-ceiling equipment and plug and play architectural appliances.

The new Spokane shop will produce prefabricated sheet metal, piping and plumbing materials and systems by Union professionals. Production will be improved with the addition of new prefabrication technology including a new fiber laser for galvanized metals and a mist system to keep clean-up to a minimum for pipe cutting needs. Additionally, the new facility is designed around McKinstry's zero-carbon future goal.

In addition to the updated prefabrication layout, the new space will include an updated area for detailers to sit closer to production, a new break room space that is designed to double as a safety training area and separate manufacturing area that will be leased to the above-mentioned Overcast Innovations.

Construction on the new facility is already underway and is currently planned to begin operation in late 2023.

Roam Coffee House has opened a new location in North Spokane and joined Supper Club Spokane at 1908 W. Northwest Blvd. Unit B. The owners of Roam Coffee House and their parent Roam Roasters, Shelly and Aaron Quigley, are local farmers who have provided custom blends and roasts to companies in the Pacific Northwest since 2019.

Roam Coffee House was established in Medical Lake (107 E. Lake St.) and after just one year of successful business they have expanded to this new second location, their first in the City of Spokane. They will offer espresso drinks, delicious cold brew ice pops, 12 oz. bags of coffee beans, Revival Tea and food items.

Their green coffee is sourced and tested using precise quality controls and roasted using a scientific approach that focuses on bean flavor while reducing bitter flavors. The company says they adhere to a Nordic style of roasting which creates unique and flavor roasts that highlight the growing region's flavor characteristics.

A Grand Opening celebration is planned for the new North Spokane location on Tues, Sept 20th from 8am-5pm. Advertised is free mini donuts, 20% off of bags of coffee, a bonus $5 on every gift card over $25 and deals from their friends at Supper Club and Domestikated Biscuits. New local businesses coming to N. Monroe St.

As of the beginning of this week crews began a paving project on N. Monroe St. from Summit Pkwy, but don't let that scare you away from the many local businesses that dot the street going north from Downtown Spokane. In fact, north of the construction area will soon be a handful of exciting new businesses you might want to keep an eye on. They are-

Spokane Record Store going into 1401 N. Monroe

I don't have all the details yet but from what we hear, Spokane Record Store will be a new retail record store opening sometime around October of this year. This is a 2800 SF store that will be in one of the new suites at the former Empire Office Furniture building.

Lunarium going into 1925 N. Monroe Suite A

Lunarium isn't technically a new business but until now they had been sharing a space on S. Grand Blvd with the local bakery Twenty Seventh Heaven. By day the main business would sell baked goods, and the evening Lunarium would open as a cool night-time coffee shop.

Twenty Seventh Heaven recently announced their plans to relocate to a storefront in Downtown Spokane, and Lunarium is going out on its own on... N. Monroe.

Lunarium is planning to open this fall at 1925 N. Monroe in the Atomic Threads Boutique's former location (they are still in business at 1905 N. Monroe). On their social media Lunarium says they will be bringing new brewing methods, a dinner menu, comfier seating, a conference room, stage for live events and the same late-night hours!

Rejuvenate relocates to new 2907 N. Monroe location

Rejuvenate is a locally owned and operated retailer of vintage, mid-century modern, antiques, refurbished collectables, home decor and more. They are actually planning to open TODAY Sept 1st at 2907 N. Monroe after doing work to the building which formerly held a business called Almost Antiques.

The new space is not far from their old location, but that location won't be sitting empty, because their old space will be the new business below...

Gabriel's Guitars to open at 3221 N. Monroe

Tucson,AZ based Gabriel's Guitars is planning their new second location in the former Rejuvenate space at 3221 N Monroe, here in Spokane. Gabriel's is planning to open for business with an official grand opening on Nov. 5th and a possible soft opening at a yet to be determined date.

Gabriel's Guitars says they will offer guitar repair, retail guitars, consignment and tube amp repair.

Also, don't forget to stop by the many other businesses of N. Monroe St., including during the weekly Emerson-Garfield neighborhood Farmers Market held every Friday from 3-7pm by the IEL Adult Education Center at 2310 N. Monroe. It'll be held through Sept. 30th.
