Arc of Spokane to open thrift store in old CompUSA building Downtown

The Arc of Spokane is a non profit that has served the Spokane community for many years, doing good works with residents with developmental disabilities. The Arc of Spokane does this via several different programs, however running those programs isn't without cost.
For the last 20 or so years, Arc of Spokane has partnered with Savers,Inc. the parent company behind the Value Village thrift store chain. Arc of Spokane acted as wholesaler of donated goods in return for a portion of profits of all items in the two Spokane Value Village stores , regardless of wither they sell or not. But the Arc of Spokane's revenue from Value Village hasn't seen much growth recently and with expenses growing, The Arc of Spokane choose to end the agreement with Value Village and go out on their own.

The Arc of Spokane is in the process now of opening a new , independent thrift store, to be called The Arc of Spokane Thrift Store. The store will open, with full grand opening festivities on Dec. 9th and crews at the store's purposed site are hard at work setting the store up.

The location of the new Arc of Spokane Thrift Store is perhaps, one of Spokane's most easily recognizable buildings. Not because of it once being a CompUSA store, but because of it's very high traffic location. The Arc of Spokane will lease the long vacant building at 808 N. Ruby St. , in the Ruby/ Division couplet just north of the N. Division / River Dr. intersection. The site is also only blocks north of Downtown Spokane , and blocks from Gonzaga University, a wise business move since many Gonzaga students will probably take advantage of the store's low prices.

The Arc of Spokane thrift store will occupy the entire free standing structure, which has about 25,000 square feet of space in all. The new store's main sales floor will take up about 14,000 square feet of the space and the remainder will be used for storage and office space. The merchandise of the new store will be varied and feature all of the standard thrift store departments, including clothing.

The new store will employ about 35 to 40 once open, most of which will be part time. After the store's Dec. 9th opening date the store will be open Mon. - Sat. 9am - 9pm and Sun. 10am - 7pm .

Arc of Spokane will also continue their operations at their headquarters site on E. 3rd Ave just east of Downtown Spokane. Value Village will not undergo visible changes as a result of the switch away from the Arc of Spokane, as Value Village also contracts with the Northwest Center and will increase the amounts given to that non-profit. Value Village is located on W. Boone Ave across from Spokane Arena and near the intersection of Sprague and Pines in Spokane Valley.
