We've heard rumors for some time, but today's commercial building permit filing basically confirms that the grocery store chain Trader Joe's is coming to Spokane Valley. The company has filed for a commercial tenant improvement permit to build out a new store at 13414 E. Sprague Ave, Suite 101.
This is the building that was formerly a Shopko department store. A Tractor Supply retail store opened a portion of the building earlier this year. According the permit filings the Spokane Valley Trader Joe's will be store number 296 and it will occupy a little more than 21,500 square feet of space with the general contractor still listed as TBD.
No opening date or construction timeline is available as of my writing this as it is a developing story.
