Reports say Texas Roadhouse is coming to Spokane

Back in July we shared some information about the possibility of a Texas Roadhouse coming to Spokane. At that time they had appeared as a tenant name in the plans for the former N. Division Costco building. And, while some of those plans didn’t stay in the plan, we can happily report that our friends over at Spokane Journal of Business published that Texas Roadhouse is confirmed to be building at the site.

Here is their article ( be aware they have a paywall )-

https://www.spokanejournal.com/local-news/costco-completes-sale-of-north-side-property/

We’ll be running our own article about this in the coming days but the short story is that Texas Roadhouse will open in the parking lot area where the Costco fuel station had been. The main Costco building will primarily be a new At Home store which we touched on briefly back in the Fall-
http://www.inlandnwbusiness.com/2018/10/permits-indicate-at-home-is-coming-to.html?m=1

This will leave one section without a set tenant just yet. However it looks likely a storage facility will go into that space.

But, for now if you’re looking for more info on Texas Roadhouse check them out at-

Yaya Brewing opening soon in Spokane Valley

A new brewery is on it's way to Spokane Valley. In fact construction is already getting underway for the new Yaya Brewing Company, coming soon to 11712 E. Montgomery.

They will open later this year, with an opening date a bit more up in the air then usual with the recent government shut down. But, they will be opening and when they do they will have a production facility and tasting room, both at the same site. The production side will include a 10-barrel brewhouse with 60-barrel production capacity.

Beer lovers will be able to visit Yaya Brewing in a planned 900 square tasting room. That space will include plenty of seating, several TV's and 10-15 taps. Of that 9-13 will be reserved for beers brewed by Yaya Brewing and the rest will be other locally brewed beers and ciders. Their beers will be brewed with high quality ingredients that are locally sourced whenever possible. They plan to brew several types of beers, which we'll likely profile a bit more when they open.

This new brewery is being dedicated in memory of the owners sister, Lara. They say Lara was very community oriented and they intend to follow suit with the creation of their flagship beer, the Angel IPA. 1% of the tasting room sales of the Angel IPA will be donated back to local charites.

Yaya Brewing will be a quality beer driven brewery with no kitchen. However they do plan to have some pre-packaged snacks and will likely partner with many local food trucks to bring in something for guests to eat at times.

We'll check back in with Yaya Brewing as they get closer to opening, but they do have a website coming soon to http://yayabrewing.com

And, follow their progress on Facebook at- http://www.facebook.com/yayabrewco

High Tide Lobster Bar coming to Downtown Spokane

A small restaurant serving fresh lobster in Downtown Spokane ?!? Yes, really....

Watch for High Tide Lobster Bar coming soon to the space above Numerica Credit Union at 502 W. Riverside. High Tide will be the next venture of Chef Chad White, who's already known locally for his other Downtown restaurant, Zona Blanca, a delicious ceviche bar located inside the Steel Barrel Tap Room on Madison. Not so locally White was also a contestant on season 13 of Bravo TV's Top Chef.

High Tide Lobster Bar will be small with only some seating as the space was last used as Thomas Hammer Coffee kiosk location. But despite the size High Tide will still be very cool and very unique for Spokane. Watch for a quick service menu of lobster sandwiches, other sandwiches , chowder and salad.

Currently the plans call for High Tide Lobster Bar to open for business by the end of February. In addition to this project Chef Chad White is also collaborating with the local TT's Old Iron Brewery in opening a new brewery and Kansas City style BBQ restaurant coming later this year to 4110 S Bowdish ( at Dishman-Mica ) in Spokane Valley. But, more on that soon...

Renovations coming to abandoned Pacfic Fruit & Produce warehouse in Downtown Spokane

New life will soon be coming back to a presently abandoned warehouse on the east side of Downtown Spokane. Plans are in the works now to re-develop the former Pacific Fruit & Produce building at 102 E. Main into a small multi-use building.

Construction could start as early as the Spring and divide the building into 3 spaces for 3 separate tenants. About 3200 square feet for an office tenant, 3400 square feet for a yet to be named restaurant, and about 1100 square feet for a yet to be named coffee shop tenant. The office tenant space will be used by JMK & Associates , a financial advisory firm currently located at 421 W. Riverside, they will move to the new space once it is completed.

According to documents filed with the City of Spokane the re-development project will cost an estimated $500,000 with design work being done by HDG Architecture. No contractor name is mentioned as of yet.

Roasters Coffee planning Spokane locations

If you've spent any time in the Tri-Cities in the last few years you've likely at least seen a location of the Roasters Coffee chain. The chain is a 10 year old brand of drive thru coffee stands with about 10  stores around the Tri-Cities and Walla Walla. And, now Roasters is planning to expand to the Inland Northwest with new stores coming soon to the Spokane area.

They are planning a location at 2505 W. Northwest Blvd. which they hope to have open by the end of 2019. Another location is planned in 2020 near Airway Heights along US 2 and others are in the works in Spokane Valley on Argonne Rd. and Evergreen. They say their goal stands at 5 stores in 5 years and then setting a long and committed goal towards reaching the entire population.

Roasters Coffee has been roasting their own coffee since 2011, they roast daily and have the same coffees from the same farms year after year. Wes Hayden, owner of Roasters tells me " we might be considered fast casual coffee but the guarantee is the coffee your getting is high specialty grade coffee roasted extremely well. Which isn't true for many drive thru chains ".

He goes on to say " one of the things we focus on is the coffee, that will always be our first goal ". Also Roasters Coffee brings more value to the people and communities they serve, last year they offered a day a month in revenue to local charities. Roasters Coffee is truly a community driven coffee company.

For more info on Roasters Coffee, check out their website at - http://roasterscoffee.net

And, for a better idea of the company I recommend reading an interview with the owner Wes Hayden from 2016 at - http://tri-cityherald.com/news/local/article95437422.html

103.5 The Game launches as Spokane's newest radio station

Radio Spokane has launched a new radio station that's sort of a re-branding from a previous station. Mapleton Communications, which does business as Radio Spokane, has switched the format of KGA 1510 AM and brought on a translator station at 103.5 to re-broadcast the channel to the more common FM radio.

The station switched just this week and now plays a mix of sports and hip hop, geared to take on Hot 96.9 Spokane's other hip hop geared top 40 station. The station will primarily be a music station but will continue on with games from Gonzaga, Spokane Chiefs and the Spokane Indians, which is a holdover from KGA's previous sports format.

This is the first radio station launch in Spokane market since Alt 96.1 took the place of a country station back in March.

For more info on 103.5 The Game, visit their new website at http://1035thegame.com where you can also stream the new station.

Region's only completely gluten-free restaurant completes big expansion

With more then 4 years in business, Cole's Bakery & Café the region's only completely gluten-free bakery and restaurant has recently completed a large expansion of their facility. The expansion will allows Cole's to provide more products and allow them to enter the wholesale market.

Cole's is located in North Spokane at 521 E. Holland , they opened there in August 2014 as a gluten free bakery with 1484 square feet of space. Now, with the most recent expansion Cole's boasts a significantly larger 4084 square feet. The expansion allows for increased workspace for food preparation, additional seating for restaurant customers and even a drive-thru window. This is huge as 1% of the US population has celiac disease and up to 5% of the population suffer from some level of gluten intolerance.

Eric & Jeanie Smith, owners of Cole's say they have seen steady growth since they opened their doors. " We have many local families that love our food and have supported us from the beginning " Jeanie said. The restaurant has also attracted customers from around the region including Pullman, Moses Lake and Coeur d' Alene.

With the new larger space Cole's will be expanding into the wholesale baking market. " We hope to help restaurants and stores around the region meet their customers demands for more and better gluten-free options on their menus " Eric said. In addition to providing wholesale services Cole's will seek to expand their own bakery and restaurants offerings for individuals following the Keto diet.

The Cole's menu has also been expanded with new offerings such as curry ravioli and chicken parmesan. Ice cream in gluten-free cones and shaved ice will also be available for customers eating in or at the drive-thru window. Cole's is even open seven days a week with breakfast, lunch and dinner offered.

For those not able to travel to their location in North Spokane, delivery is also now available via Treehouse Deliveries and Cole's can be found regularly at the Kendall Yards farmers market during the spring and summer months.
