Zeeks Pizza planning a location nearby Gonzaga

 Zeeks Pizza, a popular chain of pizza restaurants from the Seattle area, is planning on coming to Spokane soon. The company will open it's 20th restaurant, and their first east of the Cascade's in the former Geno's building at 1414 N. Hamilton, just steps off of the Gonzaga University campus. More locations in the Inland Northwest are also possible in coming months but will be announced at a later date.



Zeeks Pizza's president, Dan Black is a Spokane native and this new location will be locally owned by Mike and Edie Stotts. They tell me Zeeks is a pizza company with Northwest values at it's roots " we are independent, creative , adventurous and down to earth. These traits show up in everything we do including pizza and beer. "



The Spokane Zeeks location will offer delivery, take away and indoor dining. Orders will also be able to placed via their website or the Zeeks Pizza app. The new GU Zeeks will also deliver beer, cider, wine and canned cocktails. They plan to include several Spokane made beers, products from Dry Fly Distillery and their three famous " Zeeks Beers " ( Hop Tropic IPA, Zeek & Destroy IPA and Lateral A IPA ) . This is in addition to a large selection of pizzas, salads and desserts. 

The new restaurant is hoping to open towards the end of October, into November with a official date to be announced soon. They just plan to open in time for Zag games as they will say plan to be a great place for before or after the game or to watch the game if you're un-able to go.

Twisted Sugar coming to Spokane

 Twisted Sugar is a Layton,Utah based chain of shops that describes themselves as a " a specialty soda shop, that makes cookies everyday " . The company is growing fast, with locations now scattered around the United States, and they now have their sights set on opening a new store , here in Spokane.



Twisted Sugar recently leased a 1340 square foot space at 2009 E. 29th, the former Caffe Capri coffee shop space in the South Hill's Grapetree Village shopping center. Ryan Oberg and Cory Barbieri of Goodale & Barbieri handled the lease of the company's new location.

We reached out to Twisted Sugar for an estimated opening date, but have yet to get a reply. The business however promotes their menu of cookies that are baked fresh in-store daily with unique flavors and monthly rotating special cookie options, specialty sodas,  ice cream sandwiches and " Twisters " , which are similar to shakes. 

This will be the first Twisted Sugar location in Washington State, however they already have one to our south in Boise and are planning a couple more locations in Idaho soon. For more info on Twisted Sugar, visit their website at- http://www.twistedsugar.com

Lone Mountain Farms & Brewery working on new restaurant / tap house in Hayden

 Lone Mountain Farms & Brewery is a locally owned farm and brewery, nearby Silverwood at 25415 N. Ramsey Rd. in Athol. Their products are sold on site in a small set up at the farm and occasionally at farmers markets.


But Lone Mountain recently began construction on a new tap room and restaurant in the Lancaster Market development at the corner of US 95 and Lancaster Rd on the north side of Hayden. No opening date has been set yet but the new space should be opening later this year, joining other exciting food tenants like Belle's Brunch House and Bee's Knees Whiskey Bar, which are already open there.

The new Lone Mountain Tap House will offer their beers on tap, along with wine and cider options. They say the food will be inspired by the farm, farm to table cuisine that's " local, fresh and delicious ".

Newly renovated building offers up new office spaces on E. Sprague

 


Formerly the home of the Vien Dong Vietnamese Restaurant, the building at 1722 E. Sprague has seen significant renovations since the buildings sale in 2019. Vien Dong still operates but has since moved to 3435 E. Trent.





On the ground floor a new furniture store, Bide & Burgeon opened for business just a few months ago with affordable furniture and d├ęcor. A coffee tenant is also in the works to open in the remaining ground floor space but haven't yet formally announced their plans.

The second floor, however is now coming open now with newly renovated office spaces. A total of 18 brand new, roomy, individual offices that have amazing natural light are now throughout that entire floor. While some of the new offices are rented many are still available and geared towards small businesses, accommodating 1-5 people. A one year lease and one month deposit is required.

Rent for the office spaces is currently at $635 and up and includes Wifi, conference room time, free off street parking, 24/7 secure access , utilities and light janitorial.

Boxcar Apartments project reaches it’s top floor

 


One of the University District’s largest construction projects is taking shape, quite literally. The new Boxcar Apartment building at 15 N Grant, by E. Sprague and U District Gateway Bridge has recently reached it’s highest height, some seven floors above the up and coming East Central Spokane neighborhood. It’s now even somewhat visible from I-90.

Spokane based Bouten Construction is the general contractor for the construction project which when complete will be a 78,500 SF structure with 136 apartments, underground parking and a cafe space on the ground floor. The developers are also targeting to achieve a LEED Silver status, showing dedication to sustainability.


While much of the construction is being done locally, it is noteworthy that this is one of many recent local construction projects that have attracted out of area investment. The project is being developed by a company called Project^ out of Portland and the architectural design is being done by TVA Architects also operating out of Portland.

 One of the more popular sections of this site has rapidly become the Current Construction Projects page. Even I find myself using it for reference sometimes, and today we have a few more projects to add to it, they are-

Goodwill Industries Airway Heights

Goodwill Industries of the Inland Northwest are planning a 60,000 SF new construction building at the corner of Deer Heights Rd & Flight Dr in Airway Heights. The building is planed to be part retail store and part salvage sorting facility.


Fred's Appliance Distribution Center

Planned to be built at 8817 W. Granite Ave, near Airway Heights and the Spokane International Airport is a planned to warehouse for the Fred's Appliance chain. Plans currently call for a 100,000 SF structure with multiple loading docks and 80 parking stalls.


Tesla Liberty Lake

Baker Construction & Development recently started construction at 1805 N. Pepper Ln. , just north of I-90 in Liberty Lake for a large Tesla dealership, providing both sales and service. Plans call for a 33,768 SF building with a large parking area and state of the art Tesla superchargers.


Millennium Monroe Apartments

As of my writing this, the Millennium Monroe project is still in the SEPA application phase but does show promise of being built soon. The plan as of now shows two phases, phase 1 is a 4 story mixed use building with 41 residential units.

Phase 2 is a 3 story multi family structure with 24 rental units. All will be in the North Monroe area at 2002 N. Monroe.


Symons Block

We don't know all the details on it just yet but understand that the Symons Block building at 7 S. Howard in Downtown Spokane, recently underwent a change in ownership. With big plans to convert the office space on the upper floors into studio apartments. The ground floor will keep the same commercial spaces.


Acceleration Physical Therapy

Construction should begin soon for a 4070 SF standalone building that will be a new clinic for Acceleration PT. It will be located at 707 S. Sherman.


Take 5 Medical Office

Construction is underway at 371 W. 5th, along I-90 and just west of Arthur St for a 3065 SF medical office building. The name is mentioned as " Take 5 DNA " , we will keep an eye on if for more details.


Mt. Spokane Pediatrics Clinic

Plans are to build a new 15179 SF clinic building for Mt. Spokane Pediatrics at 759 E. Holland.


Aspen Dental

The Aspen Dental chain of dental clinics is planning a new construction building at 4805 E. Sprague, near Costco in Spokane Valley. Plans call for a 3500 SF stand alone building.

Bijou

Status- Planned

Bijou, the small bar and coffee shop in Browne's Addition is planning a second location on the South Hill. Per their request, we will wait to announce the exact location till they give us the go ahead.


Hark's Clubhouse

Status- Under construction

Coming soon to the former Sam's Coffee space at 12709 E. Mirabeau Pkwy. in Spokane Valley is Hark's Clubhouse. The owner of Cease & Desist is planning a cool new baseball themed restaurant with beer & wine in addition to burgers, cheesesteaks, ice cream and other ballpark themed foods.


Emrys Fermentations

Status- Under construction

A unique new restaurant that is coming soon to Liberty Lake and joining the new River District development. The restaurant is going into a new building which they are building now at 21850 E. Wellington , off of Harvard Rd. It is described as Spokane's historical-modern fusion meadery-brewery-restaurant.


Jersey Mike's 

Status- planned

Building permits have been applied for to build a new location of the Jersey Mike's chain of sandwich restaurants in Spokane Valley. Per the address on the permit, it will be near Fred Meyer at 15609 E. Sprague Ave. , suite B.


Lokey Cafe

Status- Under construction

Described by them as " coffee for regular ass people ", Lokey Cafe is working on opening in Downtown Spokane at 903 W. Riverside. They will serve Indaba Coffee, Revival Tea and some food options.


Common Language Brewing

Status- Planned

Working on gathering the details on this new brewery coming soon to Downtown Spokane. They are planning on remodeling and going into the former River Bank Tap House space at 928 W. Sprague.


Inland Cider Mill

Status- Under construction

Inland Cider is planning on relocating their tap room to a new more predominant location next door to Chaos Arcade at 1020 W. Francis Suite B in North Spokane.


Pint House Burgers & Brews

Status- Under construction

Pint House Burgers & Brews, with one location in Spokane's Indian Trail neighborhood is planning a new second location in the former Good Tymes Bar at 9214 E. Mission , by Argonne in Spokane Valley.


Chipotle

Allegiant announces new direct flight between Spokane and Phoenix-Mesa, among others nationwide

 The Las Vegas based budget airline Allegiant Airlines announced a major service expansion today with 22 new non stop routes. One of those new routes will link Spokane International Airport with a new direct connection to Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport in Mesa, AZ. , a route the airline will begin flying on Nov. 22, 2021.


To celebrate the new flights, Allegiant will offer fares as low $39, since the airline uses a budget type model however consult their website for exact dates and charges as many airlines like this charge for baggage, etc.

Other new flights leaving from Phoenix-Mesa include flights to Amarillo, TX. , Flint,MI , Springfield,IL , Tulsa,OK and Minnapolis,MN. . Providing a few new possible connections to Spokane based travelers. Also, Allegiant currently fly's direct from Spokane to Orange County,CA and Las Vegas,NV.

Spokane Pizza Co owners lease former Rocky Rococo space in Downtown Spokane

 Spokane Pizza Co. , which opened their first location earlier this year and does business there as The Pizza Co - North Spokane at 9225 N. Nevada have leased a well known storefront space in Downtown Spokane.

Commercial real estate brokerage Kimele Hagood shared today that Spokane Pizza Co.'s parent company JGFH,LLC has leased out the 4,869 SF former Rocky Rococo space at 520 W. Main, in Downtown's Bennett Block building. However we are now told this location will operate as a different, yet to be announced restaurant concept.

Erik Nelson of Kimele Hagood represented the landlord and John Hiller with SVN Cornerstone represented the tenant.

Directional signage in The Bennett Block's adjacent parking lot has also already been update to show the new business , however there isn't an opening date announced to us just yet. As seen on the sign, another new restaurant tenant is also coming soon, Purgatory Craft Beer & Whiskey Bar is planned to open in the former Chronic Taco space and set to open around the middle of September.

Liberty Lake Athletic Club & U-District PT to open in new building on Barker Rd.


The Liberty Lake Athletic Club is expanding, along with U-District Physical Therapy and the two local businesses will soon open new locations in a new building, that's under construction now on N. Barker Rd in Spokane Valley. 

The two businesses will split the new building at 504 N. Barker Rd, just south of I-90, with Liberty Lake Athletic Club taking 6,000 SF and U-District PT taking 4,000 SF of space. They are currently hoping to have the project complete and the businesses open around the end of this year or early in 2022. Reacon Construction, LLC also of Liberty Lake is acting as the general contractor on the project.

A recent social media ad by Liberty Lake Athletic Club hints that the new location will be called Liberty Lake Athletic West and will include new cardio and weight equipment as well as a dedicated state of the are personal training space.

The General Store Ace Hardware planning new store in Liberty Lake

 Most Spokane area residents are well acquainted with The General Store, the landmark retailer at 2424 N. Division. They might also know the store also opened a second location a few years ago in Spokane Valley called The General Store Outpost at 1330 N. Argonne. Both locations are affiliated with Ace Hardware but sell a wide array of items other then hardware.


And, now they are getting ready to expand once more, with the recent announcement of a new third location coming soon to Liberty Lake. The new Liberty Lake General Store will also be an Ace Hardware, and will also carry much of the same merchandise. This location is planned to be in a 12,500 SF +/-  new construction building to be built in a vacant lot to the north of the Yoke's plaza on N. Liberty Lake Rd. . 

The business will still be required to go through permitting and construction phases but should open sometime in 2022. We inquired if there we're any renderings of the project just yet, but they indicated it was still too early in the process.

Pint House Burgers & Brews leases building in Spokane Valley for second location

 Pint House Burgers & Brews has established themselves as a delicious neighborhood bar and eatery serving Indian Trail and nearby neighborhoods on Spokane's Northwest side. The business, which is operated by Josh Blair, former owner of Downtown's 24 Taps bar, opened their first and only location only a few months ago at 3325 W Indian Trail Rd. 


That location will soon be joined by a second location of Pint House as local commercial real state brokerage, Goodale & Barbieri is reporting that their broker Bob Spooner recently leased the building at 9214 E. Mission to Pint House Burgers & Brews for a new second location. This is the former home of Good Tymes Bar, near the corner of Mission & Argonne.

We reached out via email to Pint House for more info on their plans at this new Valley location, but they have yet to reply. The menu , if like the original location, will consist of burgers, sandwiches, wraps, wings, appetizers and many beers with both dine in and take away.

Goodwill planning large new facility near Airway Heights

 


Goodwill Industries of the Inland Northwest recently purchased 6.2 acres of property by the corner of Flight Dr. & Deer Heights Rd., near the Village Center Cinemas in Airway Heights. Plans are now underway to build a new retail store and a salvage processing area on the parcel, the new facility will be roughly 60,000 SF .

"Our retail stores are the primary source of support for our Goodwill programs" explained Clark Brekke , President / CEO of Goodwill Industries of the Inland Northwest. Goodwill invests more than 85 cents of every dollar from the sale of goods donated into supporting it's programs. " We take the items people don't want anymore and use that revenue to fund programs that are helping people get training and employment, housing support and build financial stability" explained Brekke.

Goodwill will release an RFQ for design-build teams in the coming weeks. The budget for this project will be substantially determined by the design that is developed in partnership with the selected builder. Goodwill hopes to open the new facility in the Summer of 2022.

Bruchi's Cheesesteaks & Subs planning a new location in Post Falls

 


The site of the new restaurant is in this vacant lot, a bit north of the River City Center sign.

Bruchi's, a Spokane based chain of quick service restaurants has announced, via a social media post, that they are planning a new restaurant location in Post Falls. The company, which features a menu of cheesesteaks, subs, burgers and more already has 18 locations in Washington, Idaho and California according to their website. They also recently opened their newest location near the US 2 / Flint Rd intersection in Airway Heights.

The new Post Falls Bruchi's will be a new construction building at 1040 N. Hwy 41, a little north of the corner of Hwy. 41 and Mullan Ave. Plans on file with the City of Post Falls, indicate the new restaurant will be a 2400 SF building with a small dine in area, drive thru lane and a 31 stall car park.. The new Bruchi's location is set to open in early 2022.

Progress Watch- Northern Quest Resort & Casino Expansion

 For today's edition of our " Progress Watch " feature we checked in on the current status of the expansion at Northern Quest Resort & Casino. Exciting things are coming to the Resort property which is owned by the Kalispel Tribe and is celebrating their 20th anniversary currently.

Northern Quest wrapped up another phase of expansion just a couple of years ago with the addition of a large retail store called Windfall, a handful of quick service dining options, an Arcade, a child care space and a dinner and movie theater concept. As a result of the Covid Pandemic the movie theater has sat closed since the lock downs. But, even that is changing as Liberty,MO based theatre operator B&B Theaters is currently hiring and working to re-open the establishment in the near future under the new name B&B Theatres Airway Heights 8.

New Hotel at Northern Quest



The largest part of the Resort's current expansion is a new hotel, crews from general contractor Lydig Construction have already done much of the site work and as of this week the first part of vertical construction is starting. This new addition will add 200 new hotel rooms to the property and will be attached via skybridge to the main building. The addition will be all non-smoking rooms using the same four star quality as the existing rooms at Northern Quest. This portion of the expansion is planned to open in 2023 and a large convention center expansion is planned adjacent to the new hotel, however they have yet to announce when that will be build / open, likely due to the uncertainty that still exists in the convention and event market. 

New restaurants / night club at Northern Quest


Northern Quest is also doing a large project inside the main building that will strip and re-build the area that pre-covid was used as a Buffet called River's Edge Buffet. The buffet is now gone and will be replaced two new restaurants and new night club.

Names and exact details have yet to be released about this new spaces but we do know from other media reports that the completed project will include a Asian-fusion inspired restaurant, a pizza by the slice restaurant and an upscale night club.

New Sports Book / Turf Club Lounge remodel.

We didn't stop to take any pictures of the third planned project in Northern Quest's 2021 expansion, in part for the privacy of patrons and in part because construction doesn't look to have actually started yet. But plans call for an update and remodel of the Turf Club Lounge bar space, which will re-invent the space in a sports betting space. Something that will be new to Northern Quest, another media report says new Turf Club Lounge sportsbook should open in time for the football season this year.

Construction begins on large new Tesla Service Center in Liberty Lake




Baker Construction & Development recently broke ground on a large new project in Liberty Lake. The company will be the general contractor to construct a new Tesla Service Center on N. Pepper Ln, just north of I-90 at the Harvard Rd / Liberty Lake interchange.

The new Tesla facility will be a 33,768 SF tilt up precast structure and is located on a 5.5 acre site. The new building will house approximately 6,300 SF of show room and employee work space along with 27,468 SF of maintenance and service area. The site also includes 240 parking stalls to facilitate office staff, customers and vehicle stock.

The project will be home to Tesla's new state of the art V3 supercharging stations, which was developed to charge their vehicles substantially faster and increase mileage range. The new Liberty Lake Tesla facility is planned to be completed sometime in early 2022.

New Bagel shop, Hidden Bagel, coming soon on the South Hill

 


A new bagel shop is coming soon to Spokane. Jennifer Davis, the owner of The Scoop Ice Cream is working on opening the new business, called Hidden Bagel in a former salon space next to the original Scoop location at 1001 W. 25th.

There isn't an opening date just yet but they are hoping to open sometime around October, Menus are still being worked on as well however but it is mentioned that they new shop will be a bagel / waffle / coffee shop.

We'll keep an eye on this as we very excited for this new restaurant opening and will add website/social media once they are up and available.

Byrd Real Estate Group,LLC reports the recent lease of retail space at 1926 E. Sprague ( former Byrd Walker Sewing storefront ) to Upscaled Treasures, a new upscaled vintage furnishings retailer.

University of Washington leased 2,241 SF of space at 850 E. Spokane Falls Blvd. in Spokane for a new visitor center. Mike Livingston of Kimele Hagood represented the tenant.

Alturas purchased the 40,000 SF Airport Business Center office building at 5709 W. Sunset Hwy in Spokane as an investment purchase. Erik Nelson of Kimele Hagood was involved in the transaction.

Spokane Talks Media leased 1,246 SF of office space at 157 S. Howard St #602. Jamie Moesges of Kimele Hagood represented the tenant and Chris Batten with Rencorp Realty represented the landlord.

SVN Cornerstone recently announced the sale of the All Lines Insurance building at 616 E. 3rd Ave in Spokane. The buyer plans to renovate the building for two anchor tenants Senator Guitars and Empty Room Spaces, which will open in January. SVN Cornerstone broker Nate Gant represented the buyer and Jesse Fox, also of SVN Cornerstone represented seller on the transaction.

South Perry Lantern now open in the Perry District

The former Lantern Tap House is under new ownership, has been updated and is now back open as the "South Perry Lantern" , paying tribute to the Perry community.

The Perry District cornerstone underwent a complete overhaul and is completely remodeled. They say the remodel was very extensive including reorganizing and opening the floorplan, bringing in more natural light, restoring the natural woodwork, and returning the South Perry Lantern to building and health code standards. 




" As we discussed the plans for this project, outside of just general improvements to the sanitation and safety elements. The South Perry Lantern is home to a robust craft beer selection, a "mug club" and a reimagined menu by Chef Alex Szambelan formerly of the prestigious Broadmoor in Colorado. The menu includes bold, impressive new dishes, including a weekend brunch. " I'm very proud of what we have put together here for this menu" says Chef Alex.

Project update- Spokane Tribe Casino expansion

 As part of our periodic "Project Update" series of posts today we take a look at the expansion of the Spokane Tribe Casino in Airway Heights...

Crews from the general contractor, Swinerton and others are hard at work and have already closed in the addition to the existing Casino building. Crews are also hard at work with the site / parking lot work on the site's eastern side.

This is phase 2 of the building process for the Spokane Tribe Casino, which is set to be completed sometime late this year with more phases planned in the future. This phase of development will include:

-20,000 square feet of new gaming space

-A brand new restaurant

-Doubling the size of Whaluks, the existing bar on the Casino floor

-Expanding the existing non-smoking gaming area.

Former Econo Lodge near Airport being renovated into The James, a 140 unit apartment complex



Construction crews have already started in on a project that will soon convert a former hotel on Spokane's west side into a new place to live. Plans call for a complete remodel of the now closed Econo Lodge at 1503 S. Rustle into an apartment complex to be called " The James".

The James will feature 140 updated apartments, all studio units from 228 square feet up to 336 square feet. The remodel will upgrade the building and units where necessary and add kitchenettes for future tenants use. Rental rates aren't available just yet but we will continue to keep and eye on the project.

The building owner and general contractor is Fortify Holdings of Beaverton,OR. , who boasts on their website that they "refurbish old properties and build new communities from the ground up" , they also are currently actively renovating the former Days Inn on Third in Downtown Spokane into another new apartment community called The Imperial, we hope to make a separate post about that project in the near future.

Burger chain, Frugals to open in former Wolffy's nearby Gonzaga

After about six months of sitting empty, it looks like life and even burgers will be returning soon to the corner of Hamilton and Sharp, just off of the campus of Gonzaga University. Permits have been applied for and are currently pending to remodel the former Wolffy's Grill at 1229 N. Hamiliton into an all new restaurant.

Per the permits the space will become a location of Frugal's, a Port Angeles based small chain of quick service restaurants with six existing locations and a food truck as of the present moment. Current locations are scattered from the flagship in Port Angeles to Tacoma and even Montana. The restaurants menu is made up of quick and cheap food items, such as burgers, chicken sandwiches, fries and milkshakes. Additionally there is even a " hidden menu " located on their website.

We reached out for more information about Frugal's plans to open in Spokane but didn't receive a reply. The permits expire later this year so we expect construction to start in the near future, with the documents showing the plan as " rebranding and updated into Frugals ", an approx. $120,000 project which is to be undertaken by general contactor Element Worx,Inc.of Kalispel,MT.

New indoor playground concept, We Play Spokane, coming soon to Spokane Valley Mall

 



Construction is now underway in section of the Spokane Valley Mall for a new business called We Play. We Play is described as a primer indoor playground, the first of it's kind in Spokane County. The playground will feature a two level 5,489 SF main structure for kids ages 2-12 and a 750 SF toddler area for kids up to 3 years old.

They say the goal of We Play is to provide "a meaningful play experience the entire family can enjoy, in a clean and safe environment without the need for screen time." The new business will open later this Summer after remodeling their space, which will be located on the second floor of the Mall, across from the former Sears and above H & M.

The main play structure in the playground will feature ball blasters, slides, trampoline, zip line and several climbing and obstacle amenities. The toddler area will also be packed with fun activities and a 8 obstacle ninja course will be attached to the main play structure.

Pricing will be set by 2 hours of play, with yearly memberships available. Three birthday party area are also planned with pricing coming soon for those.

New hockey bar, Lord Stanley's coming soon to Downtown Spokane


Described as Spokane's future premier hockey bar, construction has begun for Lord Stanley's , coming soon to Downtown Spokane. The new bar and restaurant will be located on the ground floor of The Legion Building at 108 N. Washington, on the corner Washington & Riverside.

They are currently planning to have Lord Stanley's open by sometime in August. The business's website indicates that they will carry every NHL game and are actively seeking more Hockey memorabilia to decorate the new space. They also mention the new bar will have 16 TV's , a huge 165 inch HD projector screen, a full bar and a food menu. The menu is still a work in progress as of this moment however.

Lord Stanley's is even named after a Hockey great, Sir Frederick Arthur Stanley, Lord of Preston, who is the creator and namesake of the Stanley Cup.

Baseball themed restaurant, Hark's Clubhouse coming soon in Spokane Valley


A new baseball themed restaurant is coming soon to Mirabeau Park area of Spokane Valley. The owner of the Cease and Desist Book Club bar in Downtown Spokane is planning a new business called Hark's Clubhouse which will open in the old Sams & Coffee building at 12709 E. Mirabeau Pkwy.

Hark's will serve beer and wine but will so be a family friendly establishment. The new restaurant will open this Summer with a menu of burgers, cheesesteaks, ice cream and other ballpark themed foods. There isn't a website for this place that we have found just yet, but intend to keep an eye on this new place as it progresses.

The Summit Kitchen & Canteen to open in former Lindamans Bistro space on the South Hill



A new restaurant is coming to former Lindaman's Bistro building at 1235 S. Grand Blvd. . The owners of the Lost Boys Garage, a popular bar & grill on N. Wall in North Spokane purchased the building and will soon open a new establishment at the site.

Work is now underway for what will soon become The Summit Kitchen & Canteen, which is scheduled to open in September. According to their recently created social media page, the new place is described as a " gathering place for friends and neighbors " . The Summit will serve a menu of breakfast, lunch and dinner and will also have craft cocktails, non alcoholic cocktails, 20 beer taps and a espresso set up with indoor dining, a patio and to go options.

Weber Dental Center to anchor planned new building on Indiana in Spokane Valley.

 




Another new building is planned in the already fast growing area along Indiana in-between Sullivan and Flora Rd. in Spokane Valley. Plans are calling for construction to start in the fall on a new 12000 SF multi-tenant building that would be built on a vacant lot in-between the Hampton Inn and Uprise Church (  the former Hooters building ).

Weber Dental Center ( formerly branded as Weishaar Weber Dental ) will be the anchor tenant of the project, moving into an approx. 7000 SF section of the building from their current offices N. Evergreen. The remaining space will be available for lease with no tenant signed on just yet.

The new building is set to be completed during the Summer of 2022. No contractor is mentioned but architectural work was done by Trek Architecture of Spokane.

First phase of Ace Business Park is now complete in Spokane Valley


There is a new choice for flex style warehouse / office space available in Spokane Valley. Meridian Construction & Development recently completed phase one of the new Ace Business Park, located in the 15000 block of E. Marietta, nearby N. Sullivan Rd. and I-90.

The project encompasses 25,600 SF of warehouse / office space with a 5,600 SF building complete and used by the development's anchor tenant Ace Landscaping. Additionally a 10,000SF building was also completed and is available for lease for by multiple tenants. 

Construction on the second phase, which has already commenced will include another 10,000 SF multi-tenant warehouse / office building. Architecture design for the project was done by Wyatt Architects and Meridian Construction & Development, who is celebrating over 20 years in business, was the general contractor.

Crepes, Boba and NOLA inspired dishes all coming soon with several new restaurants opening in Kendall Yards

 Kendall Yards is already home to several restaurants, from one of our favorite breakfast hangouts Yards Brucheon to couple of Indaba Coffee locations to Baba, a Mediterrian inspired restaurant that Chef Adam Hegsted recently opened in the former Wandering Table space and more.

But, three more places are planned to be opening in the near future in the Kendall Yards area, so be sure to mark your calendars. Here's what to be watching for....

Crepe Cafe Sisters



After spending the last couple of years operating out of food trucks and dashing around to all kinds of events, Crepe Cafe Sisters is taking the leap later this week into a new brick & mortar restaurant. With both sweet and savory crepes on the menu this new restaurant is planning their grand opening of Friday, May 14th from 8am-4pm in their newly created space 441 N. Nettleton, next to Indaba Coffee / Hello Sugar

The Tea Boba Bar


While we don't know the exact day they plan to open just yet, signage is up and it looks like we likely won't have to wait too much longer to get delicious boba tea's in Kendall Yards. Opening in the small space out front of The Inlander's offices will be The Tea Boba Bar and honestly we can't wait to check it out.

Vieux Carre NOLA Kitchen



While technically outside of the proper boundaries of Kendall Yards will be Vieux Carre NOLA Kitchen, but who cares where they are we're simply to excited not to mention this new restaurant coming soon to 1403 W. Broadway in West Central Spokane.

After months of renovating a large building that was last used as office space, Vieux Carre is now getting close to bringing a NOLA inspired menu to Spokane. They have started hiring and we're now hearing opening day will be June 1st! 

The building will also be home to Gamers Haven, which is relocating here from Spokane Valley and a location of Maverick's Men's Hair.

But wait, could there be more?!?

If you haven't been though the Kendall Yards area lately then your missing one of the largest construction projects to come to the development. Crews are hard at work on two more large mixed use buildings in-between My Fresh Basket grocery store and the existing business district. 

The ground floor of these buildings, which is a new development named Jefferson Alley, will be leased out for commercial uses. While we haven't heard anything official opening there yet I'd be willing to bet we'll get at least one new restaurant in there. Maybe even a food hall with some ethnic cuisines that hard to find in Spokane... Now I don't have remotely any info about that being a possibility, I just would like to see it happen so I thought maybe I'd drop a hint if someone reading this has more power then I... 

Kendall Yards Night Market starts May 20th!

Also, we are now only one week away from the first weekly 2021 Kendall Yards Night Market which is held in the Kendall Yards Business District every Wed. ( May 20th - Sept 30th ) from 5-8pm. 

While the Market is always packed full of local vendors, many food trucks also frequent this market, which will likely be a bit more open this year then last.
