Although physical construction likely won't begin for a few more months, signage has already been erected and fundraising has commenced for a new lodging facility planned by the local non-profit organization, Cancer Can't. The facility will provide accommodations for adult cancer patients who need to travel to Spokane for treatment.
Plans call for the new facility to be a new construction complex at the corner of Mallon & Cedar in Spokane's West Central neighborhood, a few blocks north of the Kendall Yards area. The facility will two stories with a building footprint of 6,930 square feet (13,190 SF of total space), in all 20 total units will be included although they are currently exploring the possibility of using some of these units for long term/corporate rentals to raise extra revenue for the non-profit.
Cancer Can't is currently targeting to start construction on the new lodging facility in April of 2025 with completion in early 2027. The organization has already raised in excess of $2 million for the project but have a goal of $4.6 million that might even get increased once the project goes out to bid. Information on donating to the project will be on their website which I will link below.
In addition to providing a lodging option for cancer patients, the non-profit plans to keep the facility quite active with things support group services, nutrition classes, yoga, etc... The facility is being designed by SOK Design Studio with the general contractor still TBD.
