JAVA on Sherman to relocate & expand.

Coeur d' Alene and North Idaho is now home to more coffee shops and stands then I could ever count. But it all , in a way, started back in mid 1990's with the opening of Java on Sherman , considered to be the first coffee shop in the area. Since the 90's Java has become a landmark and the go to coffee shop for really all of the Inland Northwest. And, while Java on Sherman isn't closing, some very big changes are in store for the iconic local business.

Java on Sherman currently is in the heart of Downtown Coeur d' Alene at 324 Sherman Ave. , corner of Sherman and 4th. But the business will leave the Downtown location soon for bigger, free standing and also historic building further east and while still on Sherman, not in Downtown Coeur d' Alene.

The new Java location will be the former home of Jonesy's Breakfast Restaurant at 819 Sherman Ave. . The new building will undergo some work to prepare for the new use and the new Java coffee shop is expected to open for business later on this year, watch for an exact opening date once we find out.

The new Java on Sherman at 819 Sherman Ave. will be about two and a half times bigger then the current Downtown location and will feature a large kitchen area and according to a recent article in the Coeur d' Alene Press the business will also bring on more employees to facilitate the larger business.

We hope to learn more as the work progresses on the new location, Java will also still remain open in Downtown Coeur d' Alene until the new coffee shop opens.
