Maybe it's the upcoming holiday shopping season, but there is a huge rush of exciting new businesses opening around Spokane and Coeur d' Alene. Of course there are a few closures here and there as well but for the most part the local economy is looking up.
Here are just some of the highlights-
The closures- Painted Pony , Gentleman's Corner and Daisy J's, all of Coeur d' Alene.
Getting the bad news out of the way first thing, 3 local shops in Coeur d' Alene are also going out of business. One however may return next year but it's too early to say for sure.
Painted Pony and Gentleman's Corner are both located in the Coeur d' Alene Resort's Plaza Shops shopping mall across the street from the Resort on Sherman Ave. & 2nd St. . The businesses are both owned by the same couple who plan to retire.
A large going out of business sale is now underway at the shops and everything including the stores fixtures are for sale. Painted Pony was a specialty store geared toward women and / or western apparel and accessories . The Gentleman's Corner was men's wear retailer.
As far as Daisy J's , they are the ones that on their Facebook page say they plan to re-open in March . But I can be a bit of a pessimist and have seen more then a few store's say this and then never re-open. I really hope they do though.
Daisy J's is a gift boutique located next door to Grooveberries Frozen Yogurt on Main St. in Coeur d' Alene's Riverstone development. They had also been in Downtown Coeur d' Alene before moving to Riverstone awhile back.
Spokane RV Liquidators
Already on the move is the new business ,Spokane RV Liquidators. The discounted RV dealership is actually a division of Freedom RV also in Spokane Valley. That dealer just completed an expansion on E. Cataldo Ave. near the Spokane Valley / Liberty Lake split . The extra room has allowed Spokane RV Liquidators to move to a new lot directly behind Freedom.
Spokane RV Liquidators had been on Broadway just South of I-90 and actually just across the freeway from Freedom RV. Their old site is now back vacant.
Adding to the many local businesses using the Spok... name is Spokantiques. Spokantiques is a new antique and vintage goods store now open in the former Hillyard Varity building at 5009 N. Market in historic Hillyard.
Adding to roster of shops at Spokane Valley Mall is Lemon Ice. The store is a brand that is actually affiliated with DownEast Basics which had been in the mall until recently, in the same storefront too. DownEast has since moved to and actual larger store by Sprague Ave. ( mentioned previously on this site, use the search bar in the upper left to find more. ) .
Lemon Ice is a new unique store with apparel and accessories geared towards teens , tweens and in general a young crowd.
Bombshell Boutique is now open in Liberty Lake. The business is primarily a women's fashion and accessory retail shop. But in this case there is much more , some home décor and skin care items are also up for sale. The shop is locally owned and operated.
Bombshell Boutique can be found at 21950 E. Country Vista Blvd. Suite 500 in Liberty Lake.
West Plains Chamber of Commerce
The West Plains Chamber is not a new local business but they did recently relocated. The chamber's offices can now be found at 510 1st St in Cheney
The chamber is the official Chamber of Commerce for all of the West Plains, including Cheney , Medical Lake , Airway Heights, Four Lakes and all points in between.
Cues is back! Cues is also a women's clothing retailer with and extensive history in Downtown Spokane. Cues actually closed all together a few months back to make way for the Lululemon store across from River Park Sqaure in Crescent Court building ( 707 W. Main St. ).
But Cues wasn't kept gone long as the retail shop is now open in a new storefront still in Downtown Spokane. Cues can now be found, in a smaller , but still nice space at 108 N. Washington Ave. Suite 108.
The new Cues is also easy to find because it's now next door to Left Bank Wine Bar.
Sammy's Rustics will open it's new retail shop this week in the heart of Downtown Spokane. Sammy's Rustics has an ideally central location on the second floor of the Old City Hall building at 221 N. Wall St. in Downtown Spokane. The shop can be walked to via corridors from River Park Square and is directly across the hall from Bozzi Collection an art gallery that's in the same building.
Sammy's Rustics is a shop of woodworking creations created locally and a selection of wine's .
